Family Art Fest

Based at Fusion, Family Art Splash led on to Family Art Fest, a Fusion based series of workshops designed to provide a much needed opportunity for family groups to get creative together with a professional artist.

One Destination - The Sacred Journey

A film commissioned by Fusion,Oxford's Community Arts Agency and produced by SisterVision, the film features ordinary people's experience of pilgramage in all its diversity. The film was screened throughout the exhibition at the Ashmolean Museum.

Animagic – ‘take aways’ project

Art & Health at Manzil Way

Artists Charlotte and Carol of 'Making Marks' and Steve Larkin from 'Hammer & Tongue' ran a series of creative workshops at Fusion in June 2006 to generate themes, images and text for the public art work at the new East Oxford Health Centre in Manzil Way.

Carnival time!

Fusion has gone Carnival crazy!

Fusion Arts has been selected to work with the Cowley Road Carnival 2008 events team to make the Masquerade Procession a colourful extravaganza, with costumes and giant puppets created with the talented artists of Oxfordshire!

City Spaces

A joint photography project involving young people not in education, employment or training who were teamed up with a group of students from St John's College to explore thier perspective of the city under the guidence of community artist Ann Rapstoff.

Dead Space

Young people working with professional artists to address 'dead spaces' in their neighbourhood and come up with creative ideas to improve them through art.

Dj Tabla

A music project in partnership with Shivanova and Pegasus Theatre aimed to develop Asian music in the community and widen access to Asian music for young people.

Faces Between Places

Faces Between Places worked with homeless people, rough sleepers and users of Oxford Night Shelter using the mediums of photography and music as part of Faces of Oxfordshire.

Faces Between Places - Phase 2

Following the success of our series of music sessions at the GAP, we are running another 12 workshops where participants can express themselves and share their experiences through music and digital technology.

Family Art Splash

A new source of funding is currently being sought for this popular,intergenerational project.

Fusion is organising a series of free arts and crafts workshops designed to provide an opportunity for family groups to get creative together under the guidance of professional artists. ‘Family Art Splash’ is aimed at all the family at any age, and includes a wide range of art activities; this series will be focusing on visual arts and performance/story-telling so come and create puppets, turn them into characters and invent and tell your story on stage!

Coming soon: the sessions at Rose Hill Children's Centre in association with Cowley Road Carnival: Come and build a giant puppet for the Parade!

Fantastic Family Tales

Fantastic Family Tales was a unique and fantastic project held in two primary schools and Fusion Arts Centre’s space.

Fastforward

Fastforward was launched in October 2000, the only project delivering arts specifically in conjuction with homeless people, its mission being to promote the power of arts and their positive social, cultural and educational impact.

Festive Lanterns

Fusion organised a series of lantern making workshops, as part of the Family Art Fest programme, in November 2006.

Fun at Fusion

Art Classes designed for the Wednesday Club, Refugee and Asylum seeking children age 5-13 referred by Asylum Welcome.

In Transition

Three artists, Judie Waldmann, Claire Christie Sadler and Wren Hughes, ran a series of workshops at Fusion exploring the theme of 'transition' with members of the community.

In further collaboration with some of the participants, they prepared for an exhibition entitled 'response to TRANSITION'.

It is being held at the North Wall Arts Centre, South Parade, Oxford.

10th - 28th June; Mondays to Saturdays 11 am - 4 pm

In-Tent-City

Giving new meaning to the word 'canvas', the immensely popular In-Tent-City project culminated in a vibrant, thought-provoking show in South Park, Oxford in September 07.
The outstanding success of this project has been the participatory experience and coming together of diverse community groups, who were able to express their thoughts and views in a dramatic and creative way, each tent making a strong visual statement with a commanding physical presence. The project has been incredibly well received and as a result continues to create further interest and projects, inspiring related works and touring exhibitions.

InSite

inSite is a major new Public Art Programme of community-inspired work which contributes to long term environmental improvement/regeneration of the area.

Journey through Campsfield

Writer in residence Julia Hollander spent 3 months working with detainees at the Campsfield immigration detention centre near Kidlington.

Kaos in the City

The animation film Kaos in the City successfully committed itself to providing young individuals experiencing homelessness/temporary housing and other challenges with a high quality arts experience relevant to their situation.

Life Drawing

Life Drawing Class

Drawing materials are provided, but participants can bring their own materials and equipment of choice.

Luminox

Luminox was a special highlight of the Oxfordshire 2007 celebrations, as part of the county's year-long millennium celebration coordinated by Oxford Inspires, with Fusion and Oxford Contemporary Music (OCM). Oxford's historic Broad Street was unrecognisable between 15-17 March as it was transformed into a spectacular fire garden, creating a stirring shared community experience and highlighting the value of Broad Street as a beautiful central piazza and a focus for public gathering and art.

Summer Screen Workshop for young people ages 11-19

Oxford Extra Arts

An Arts Council funded project,Fusion and Pegasus Theatre joined forces to run Oxford Extra Arts (formerly Aesop).

Pavement Jewellery

Soon the streets will be paved with gold
and a strange and shiny mystery will unfold...

Pavement Jewellery a new unique public art work for the Cowley Road, Oxford created by artists Liam Curtin, Katy Beinart, Emily Fuller, Helen McKeith, Gerard Hanson, Emma Reynard and Jane walton was launched on the 18th November by Lord Mayor of Oxford, Councillor Robert Price.

We have a dark room at the centre suitable for black and white photography which can be hired by groups or individuals at any time during opening hours.

Pulse

pulse is a unique and exciting action research music programme using music to engage vulnerable youth (14-18 years old). Pulse 1 began a series of ongoing music programmes. Pulse 4 is on it's way!

Pulse 2

The pulse music project set out to encourage and offer musical activity to young people (14-18 years old) who might be considered 'at risk'.

Streetscape

Artist Liam Curtin is working with 5 local artists to develop a public artwork for the Cowley Road.

Talking & Thinking Space

Artists Fiona Bailey and Shona Illingworth worked with young people to create a web-based public artwork as part of the inSite Commissions

The Glow Tree

A 5m high stainless steel sculpture for Blackbird Leys Community Centre inspired by a popular community learning project, and involving community groups in its construction.

The Outside Space

Artist Ann Rapstoff worked with Refugees and Asylum Seekers in East Oxford, using the arts to help establish their connection to the community.

The Rest Space

Artists Emily Fuller and Helen MacKeith worked with Mental Health Service Users and other members of the community to create the Trinity Labyrinth as part of the inSite Commissions.

The Walk Space

Artist David Little worked with Elderly groups to devise a modular art trail along a Healthy Walking Route in East Oxford.

Threadz - Textiles for Peace

A unique textile arts project bringing together people of diverse cultural backgrounds to create richly layered community tent celebrating peaceful coexistance and harmony.

Transition

This project encourages people who are suffering from bereavement, homeless people or refugees.

Underhill Circus

Artists: Katy Beinart + Peter Dunn

The Underhill Circus project consisted of designing and creating a unique focal feature and lighting design for the centre of a newly regenerated shopping area and neighbourhood in the heart of Barton.

Voyage

A regular art class for vulnerable young women to them the opportunity to try new artistic processes and bond as a group.
