Dead Space

Young people worked with professional artists to address ‘dead spaces’ in their neighbourhood and come up with creative ideas to improve them through art.

The pilot phase of this project began in May 2005 with artist David Little working with groups of young people from Barton, Blackbird Leys and East Oxford. Over a 10 day period young people documented areas in their neighbourhoods which they considered to be ‘dead spaces’ and discussed with the artist ways in which they could be improved. This was captured in a display exhibited at Modern Art Oxford’s Oxford:2015 exhibition in June.
